Big Laughs, Big Tour, Big Star!
The producers of HAIRSPRAY are delighted to announce that the show will embark on its first ever tour of the UK and Ireland next year. HAIRSPRAY will continue to delight over 10,000 people a week in London where the West End productions runs at the Shaftesbury Theatre.
Michael Ball, who originated the role of larger than life heroine Edna Turnblad in the London production, will open the tour at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff on Tuesday 30 March 2010, before dates at the Clyde Auditorium in Glasgow, the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton, the Manchester Palace and the newly announced dates at the Dublin Grand Canal Theatre. We're equally delighted to have star of stage and screen Brian Conley join the tour direct from the West End starting at Wolverhampton Grand on Tuesday 1 June 2010, before dates at the Leeds Grand, Milton Keynes Theatre and Oxford New Theatre. More cast announcements will be made soon. The tour also marks the first stage of a closer relationship between Michael Ball and producers, Stage Entertainment. This will involve developing new work and roles both onstage and in a production capacity for Michael in the future. Plans include a major musical revival in 2011.
